“It’s cold in here—there’s a draft.” That’s what your potential hotel guests might say as they enter the lobby if cold air is coming in through the open front door and settling on the floor of the reception area.
According to the laws of physics, heated air rises, while the heavier, colder air remains at ground level. For entryways, this means that when a door is opened, the expensive, warm indoor air escapes through the upper part of the door, while cold outside air flows into the building through the lower part. These natural thermal currents create drafts in the entryway, which hotel guests and staff find extremely unpleasant.
COLUM EC – How It Works

The Colum EC and Silencio EC air curtain systems help create a comfortable indoor climate in entryways. Their even air distribution blocks out cold outside air and prevents an uncomfortable “cold spot” from forming on the floor. In the summer, this series of units can also be operated in recirculation mode (without heating). This prevents warm outside air from flowing into the air-conditioned building. Our units can be installed as freestanding or suspended models.
