For decades, the prevailing trend in theair curtainindustry was toward increasingly smaller, more unobtrusive units. At the same time, in modern architecture, entryways have increasingly become entrance portals—installation heights orairflow discharge heights for air curtainsare sometimes 3.5 meters or higher. This not only leads to increased energy consumption but also comes at the expense of comfort; moreover, ever-greater air discharge heights require higher unit power, which in turn results in increased noise levels from the air curtains.
In line with architectural requirements, devices became increasingly powerful as their dimensions shrank—and, as a result, also became noisier. The goal was now to counteract this trend.
IMPROVED TECHNOLOGY
With the development of the“SILENCIO”series, TEKADOORis setting a new, state-of-the-art standard. Compared to standard units of the same design, these series are up to 10 dB(A) quieter while maintaining the same sound insulation performance and, consequently, the same airflow. With maximum sound pressure levels of 51 dB(A) (“SILENCIO”) and 52 dB(A) (“COLUM SILENCIO”), these units create a pleasant, comfortable environment wherever people work in acoustically and climatically sensitive areas. These noise reductions are achieved, among other things, through low-speed EC fans, a modified heat exchanger, aerodynamically optimized discharge vanes, and various sound-absorbing insulation materials inside the air curtain.
APPLICATION OPTIONS FOR MANY DIFFERENT INSTALLATION CONFIGURATIONS
Air curtains from the“SILENCIO”series are ideal for retail environments and are designed as free-hanging, visible models or as recessed units for flush-to-ceiling installation.
Wherever exceptionally low noise levels are required alongside an elegant appearance that integrates seamlessly into the existing architecture, the freestanding design version of the “COLUM SILENCIO” is used.
These are cylindrical air curtain units with a particularly attractive column design. Since the connections for this series are typically “hidden” through the floor or the unit’s base, these units can be seamlessly integrated into modern, architecturally sophisticated all-glass entrances.
But it’s not just the external features that matter when it comes to air curtain systems. For users, in addition to appearance and comfort, operating costs are naturally also a key consideration. These are, of course, determined by maintenance and utility costs.
CUSTOMER-FRIENDLY MAINTENANCE
To account for the factor maintenance to minimize, these series are also equipped with a service-friendly micro-intake grille that serves as a filter. The unit does not need to be opened to clean this “filter element.” Simply vacuuming or wiping it down from the outside is sufficient—without the need for service personnel. And, of course, without the follow-up costs associated with constantly replacing any filter mats.
WE OPTIMIZE YOUR ENERGY COSTS
To calculate the operating costs to optimize, all air curtain units in the“SILENCIO”series come standard with a programmable 5-stage electronic control system. It consists of a control panel with a color graphic display and a control board built into the air curtain unit. Operation is via a multifunction dial. The operator can choose from several operating modes depending on the application. For example, automatic mode with door contact control and anti-cooling protection via a room thermostat. The various operating states, error messages, as well as the date and time are shown on the display in plain text and with symbols. This ensures easyoperation the system.
Of course, our Silencio air curtain units, as well as all other TEKADOOR product series —not just these specially sound-insulated series—comply with the current technical specifications and regulations of ErP2015and are also certified by the German TÜV-Süd.
