Air Curtains for Industrial Doors

July 9, 2019 3 min. reading time

Exchange of air masses occurs primarily in the entrance area of the loading and unloading zones in industrial buildings exchange of air masses of different densities: The lighter, warmer air escapes to the outside in the upper area, while cold air flows inward in the lower area.

As a result, the previously heated indoor air is lost. These energy losses lead to higher heating costs.

With its TIC models the ideal solution for the thermal separation of the two air masses:

TIC Industrial Air Curtain

  • Preventing thermal air exchange at the gate
  • Blow-out technology: Coanvara Flow Multi-Nozzle System (multiple vanes / conical discharge box)
  • Axial fans with three-phase motors (EC motors available as an option for the 3000 series)
  • A particularly wide and uniform air stream
  • Multi-stage speed controller; stepless operation of fans with EC motors
  • Reduction of the ingress of dust, odors, or gases
  • Ready to install: quick and easy installation
  • Sturdy, self-supporting sheet steel housing
  • Available in hanging or freestanding models (on one side or both sides of the gate)
  • Minimal maintenance requirements
  • Energy-efficient and cost-effective

Focused Air Jet via the Coanda Effect

The TIC air curtains can be installed with a discharge height of up to 6 m in the suspended version. At a discharge height of up to 6 m, the air curtain achieves a temperature of approximately 18° C at floor level. The unique feature of the TIC air curtain with the Coanvara discharge system is that, thanks to the Coanda effect, it generates an extra-wide and homogeneous air stream from several individual jets. This creates a uniform air curtain that maintains room temperature at floor level. In sensitive areas where room temperature plays a major role—such as food processing facilities—the TIC model with its air discharge system offers the optimal solution for doors in industrial and commercial buildings.

Buildings with large doors:
All TIC units can be easily mounted side by side in a row above the door or stacked on top of one another. They are controlled via a parallel connection.

Possible Applications

  • Sensitive areas where clean air is required: food processing facilities, food production, the pharmaceutical industry, the cosmetics industry; reduction of the ingress of dust, odors, or gases
  • Cold storage facilities or food warehouses
  • Warehouse and Logistics: Employees Are Protected from Cold Drafts
  • Large industrial doors with heavy traffic of goods
  • Sectional Doors: Rooms in a production building with different layouts and room temperatures

Our Commitment to Quality

Axial fans with three-phase motors, as well as our 230V AC and EC motors from the TIC 3000 series, meet the minimum efficiency requirements for fans within the EU. Tekadoor products are manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001, are CE-compliant, and are“Made in Germany.” We use only fans from ebm-papst.

Decision-Making Guide

When selecting the right air curtain, several factors and various design requirements must be taken into account. These include, for example, the specific application, the door dimensions, and the existing heating medium. In addition to our ready-made solutions, we offer custom-made units. In addition to the standard lengths of TIC units, we can also provide custom lengths. These, of course, offer the same functionality and energy efficiency.
