The antifreeze thermostat is used to monitor PWW heat exchangers when there is a risk of freezing and helps reliably protect the heating coil from damage caused by excessively low temperatures. If the temperature in the monitored area drops below +7 °C, the thermostat automatically activates and triggers defined protective functions.

In this case, the air curtain fans are turned off to prevent the heat exchanger from cooling further. At the same time, an optional solenoid valve can be opened to keep the heating water circuit open, ensuring that hot water continues to flow through the heat exchanger. This significantly reduces the risk of freezing and increases the system’s operational reliability.

The anti-freeze thermostat is particularly useful for air curtain systems with PWW heating coils when they are operated in areas with low ambient temperatures or an increased risk of freezing. It adds an important safety feature to the system’s control and helps prevent costly damage to the heat exchanger and the resulting downtime.
